Hi

Hi
Thought I would put pen to paper or finger to mouse! The summer holidays are halfway through...H will be moving up to upper school in September which both he and I are bit apprehensive about. A fortune has been spent on new uniform etc.
We have camped and been to London in the last two weeks. H and I took a spanish lad to see the sights the highlights for them was a trip to Harrods and a stadium tour of Chelsea FC. OK that was my highlight! H is earning money by caddying for his Dad taking half his winnings (Which is not much hes no Tiger Woods !!).
We have had a weekend in Surrey and went to watch the Seniors Golf Open. H met some famous golfers so he was very happy.
Back to work next week .
What else is new....not much lol.
Have just read Dawn Frenchs autobiography which I would highly recommend.
Hoping life is treating you all well

I am still here1

Hi all

Yes its me ...I am still here!

I have been working almost full time since easter so have not had much time to myself. I have been working to help out one of my oldest friends her son who is the same age as my eldest was taken ill over Easter on his return from uni and has been in hospital since. He has a form of lymphoma and is receiving very aggresive chemo so obviously she is unable to work and make a 60+ mile trip to cambridge daily. Every time I feel a bit tired and stressed think of how they all must be feeling.

Julian and Harry went to Berlin and had a good time, it was really hot and came back with a tan!

We went to our friends 40th birthday party on Saturday, I cooked a paella for her LIVE whilst people watched....I felt like Nigella! It turned out well thank goodness. Julian cooked his special ribs which went down well too! Above is a picture of us all enjoying ourselves! Fiona whos party it was is moving to Qatar with her husband and children so it was a bit of a farewell too. No picure of the paella I am afraid we had to go back home after it was cooked to fetch the camera!
Sunday we are off to France so I will post again on my return.
Take care all and even if I dont post I always read your blogs xxxxx

Its a Beautiful Day

Hi

Its a beautiful sunny day again here. For the past two weeks I have had an awful cold. I am still coughing non stop but feel a bit better, my chest has felt on fire and I have lost my voice several times ( what a blessed relief to Harry and Julian).
Today I think I may go to the garden centre and get some seeds to plant as the weather is so nice. Yesterday I saw people in shorts and t-shirts which seems odd for mid March.

Harry is feeling a lucky boy at the moment he has lots to look forward to....He and Julian are off to Berlin at the end of April to visit Sarah (julians daughter) who is at uni there. The flights were quite reasonable and they are staying at Sarahs flat , Harry has been planning what he is going to do whilst there!! I have heard the zoo and a bike tour mentioned, Julian will be worn out. I have also booked ticked to Newmarket Races when Status Quo are playing so he cant wait for that, there also may be some army cadet treats coming up in the form of a VIP helicopter ride!

Well the dogs are scratching at the door so I will be off coughing my way out with them.

Take care

All work!

Morning
Where does the time go!
I keep meaning to post some photos of the Scottish Night, what a laugh we had!
Its nice to be the youngest at a function these days and boy were we! The food was lovely, cock a leekie soup, Haggis,Neeps and Tatties, Scottish Trifle and a wonderful cheese selection. Julian was over joyed that on our table of 8 he was the only whisky drinker so he got everyone drams! The haggis was piped in and after dinner we were "treated " to scottish dancing. I swear the average age of the dancers was 90! Anyway we all had a go which caused great hilarity. The night ended with folk singing then Julian and I staggered the 10m across the road home stuffed with food and still laughing! Pictures will follow.
Please can everyone wish Harry luck tomorrow as he is representing his school in the regional final of the team Maths challenge, he is so proud and excited. It is quite an achievement for him as he is badly dyslexic and school can be a struggle for him at times ( and us where homework is concerned!).
What else is new....I fancy having a tortoise !!! I am working on the others.
Been doing masses of cooking, inspired by masterchef. Made lovely crab and corncakes with chilli dipping sauce followed by red Thai curry on saturday night. Yesterday we made Beef Rendang , an indonesian curry with was very nice. Today I will make more soup and fish pie.
Of course yesterday we also had pancakes.
Right a busy day looms.....I must get the hairdye out I am going scarily grey.
Much love to all....

Evening
Had a wonderful day in the snow yesterday. Harry and I took the dogs out..how excited they were . Have you ever seen a labrador jumping in the air trying to catch snowballs with his paws..hilarious.I wish I had taken the camera. Then Harry played outside with the neighbours the rest of the day. Thats probably the most fresh air hes had since Christmas hes turned into a proper couch potato. I love it when kids come in from the snow , all red faced and smelling cold!
Back to work tomorrow, I hope the roads arent too icy in the morning...I might catch the bus if it is, I hate driving in this weather. Julian is working nights all week so its not fun for him driving home in the early hours. On the plus side of nights I can watch what I like on the telly lol. I am loving Come Dine With Me and Masterchef.
Rory came home for tea tonight so that was nice, Harry enjoyed seeing him. Made spicy veggie soup and chicken in lemon, mustard and honey.
This Saturday some friends are taking us to a late Burns night dinner, so that should be fun. I think I will give the Scottish dancing a miss though.
Anyway lots of love......Louise xx

Note to self

Notes to self...remember you are allergic to cats! Had a lovely lunch with my friend but had a massive allergy attack with her cat!

Just scoffed my half of a Marks and Spencers Dine in for £10.....lovely.

Eldest son is doing fine without his Mum...as expected!

Youngest son had a great birthday and the sleepover didnt keep us awake.

Might just now go and have another glass of wine to blot out the hideously busy day I have had at work and try to forget I have to go in again tomorrow!

Love to all xx

Flying the nest

Evening All

Today is a sad day for me...my eldest has left home! He has moved in with 2 of his friends, both lovely lads. It feels very odd, I was at work all day so I didnt have to witness the Grand Move! No packing was done until this morning so goodness knows how it was transported..bin bags I reckon. Still they are really excited and we are going over for a visit tomorrow. I will miss him, the first 3 years of his life it was just me and him, although he was the most difficult baby ever, I hope we have a special bond. He was the product of a brief relationship , I had and the man in question wasnt interested basically. Still we all make our own choices and I can only thank him for giving me such a great son!
Harry has inherited all his ps2 games and a Spiderman picture that he has always had his eye on!
Speaking of Harry he has 4 friends around for a sleepover tomorrow, GREAT!
Have a good week everyone Louise xx
